“Need to Restrict Cheap Chinese Products to Protect Local Industries”
Tamil Nadu’s small-scale industries have urged the central government to impose restrictions on cheap Chinese products entering India. They argue that low-cost imports from China negatively impact local manufacturers, especially those producing steel, plastics, electrical items, and essential consumer goods. While major industries in India receive incentives and export support, small-scale industries lack similar benefits, making it difficult to compete with imported products. Industry representatives highlight that unrestricted imports hurt domestic production, reduce employment, and weaken India’s economic growth. They demand stricter regulations to protect small industries and promote locally made products, ensuring fair competition and sustainable development.
